Swapped my winter commute from the Kennedy to the Metra and saved $120
I used to drive from Naperville every morning and it was brutal. Sit in traffic for an hour, pay $20 for parking, just to get to my office in the Loop. Six weeks ago I started taking the Metra instead. Now I read a book on the train and my total monthly costs dropped from $400 to $280. Has anyone else made the switch from driving to public transit?

Did your friend find it hard to adjust to the train schedule at first?

Got it from the start actually. She set alarms and reminders for EVERYTHING at first, timetables were way more detailed than she expected. Now she's got it down pat and says the trains are actually more reliable than driving.
