Serious question, did anyone else think the Blue Line to O'Hare was way scarier than it actually is?
I moved here from a small town in Indiana last month, and everyone back home made it sound like taking the Blue Line alone after 8 PM was basically asking for trouble. My first real test was coming back from a show at the Aragon, and the train was just... normal. A few tired people, someone reading a book, nobody bothered me at all. Now I take it all the time without even thinking. Has anyone else found a piece of Chicago that turned out way less intimidating than the reputation?

is it just me or does this apply to basically everything in life? i swear half of people's fears are just stories they heard from someone who heard from someone. my buddy was terrified of the brown line until he actually rode it and realized it's just a train with normal people on it. same thing with that alley behind my place, neighbors said it was sketchy af but turns out it's just where the raccoons hang out and they mind their business.
