Realized I've been packing wrong after moving 4 times in 3 years

Last month during my move to Chicago I unpacked my kitchen boxes and found 3 cracked plates, even though I wrapped each one in newspaper. I watched a YouTube video from a mover in Rogers Park showing how to nest plates with paper towels between them and pack them vertically instead of flat. Has anyone else found a trick that saved them from replacing dishes every time they relocate?

Painting them with a light coat of museum wax on the bottom really cuts down on slipping.

Oh wait, that's not museum wax you're talking about, right? Museum wax is actually meant for keeping stuff in place, not for making things less slippery. I think you're mixing it up with something like a thin coat of polyurethane or even just some clear nail polish on the bottom of the dishes. Museum wax would kinda do the opposite of what you want - it'd grab onto the counter and make things stick more, not slide less. I learned that the hard way when I tried it on some ceramic bowls and they just stayed glued to the shelf. A better trick is using a little bit of rubbing alcohol to clean the bottoms first, then maybe a thin layer of mod podge if you really want that grip to go away. Just trying to save you from making the same mistake I did, lol.
