My movers ghosted me 2 days before my Lakeview lease ended and I had to rent a U-Haul on 4 hours of sleep
So this went down about 3 weeks ago when I was moving from Lakeview to Logan Square, and the moving company I booked back in June just stopped answering their phone. I called, texted, emailed, nothing. Two days before my lease ended I'm sitting on a half packed apartment with a mattress and 40 boxes and no truck. I ended up grabbing the last 15 foot U-Haul in the whole city at 7am after a night shift, which was a terrible idea because I almost backed into a dumpster on Diversey. My buddy from work helped me haul everything in like 6 hours and honestly we did it faster than the pros quoted me anyway. The company finally texted me back 4 days later saying they had a "scheduling glitch" and offered me 10 percent off a future move, which is laughable. I'm out the $150 deposit and my back is still mad at me. Has anyone actually found a decent mover in this city who doesn't pull this stuff, or is it just a coin flip every time?
