Moved into my Chicago apartment and found a raccoon living in the wall day one
I literally walked through the door with my first box and heard scratching behind the kitchen cabinets, turns out a whole family of raccoons had set up shop in the building's old pipe chase. Landlord sent a guy who just poked a hole in the drywall and left, so I had to figure out how to patch it myself. Anybody else deal with surprise wildlife when you first moved in, or is this just a Chicago thing lol?

Wait, so the landlord's solution was "poke hole, walk away"? That's basically the Chicago version of calling it fixed. I'm picturing that guy just driving home like "yep, did my job today." Honestly you got off easy though - could've been pigeons nesting in the AC unit or a squirrel that learned how to open your front door. Just wait til you hear the scratching at 3am and realize the raccoons are having a family meeting about how to get their wall back.

I once left a spoon in the fridge and blamed it on a raccoon for a week.

Blame a raccoon for anything long enough and people just start believing it... that's how half our household myths get started honestly. @reesea49 you might've stumbled onto the secret to getting away with anything, just gotta pick the right animal scapegoat.
