Lincoln Park vs Logan Square - what would you pick?

I moved to Chicago last month and had to choose between two apartments. One was in Lincoln Park near the zoo for $1,600 a month, the other in Logan Square near the Blue line for $1,400. I went with Logan Square because I wanted easier train access for my commute. The neighborhood is louder than I expected at night, but the rent savings helps a lot. Anyone else have to pick between two popular neighborhoods here and regret or love their choice?

the "louder than expected" thing is real with Logan Square... I had a friend who moved there and ended up having to buy a white noise machine because of the bars and trains. honestly $200 a month difference adds up quick though, and the Blue line access is way better for getting around than Lincoln Park's train situation.

That bit about "the noise fades after a while" rings true for me. I was worried about the same thing when I moved to Logan Square, but after about a month the trains and street sounds became background noise. The white noise machine my neighbor recommended helped a lot during that adjustment period. I think that extra $200 a month is really what lets you enjoy the city properly instead of just scraping by.

Moved to Wicker Park a few years back. Same spot as you, kinda. Had the choice between something quieter and pricier, or something louder and cheaper. Picked the cheaper place. No regrets. The noise fades after a while. You get used to the trains and the bar crowd. That extra cash in my pocket every month? That made the real difference. Let me actually enjoy the city instead of being broke in a quiet apartment.
