Got to my new apartment in Rogers Park and the oven didn't work at all
Moved in on a Sunday. Went to preheat the oven for dinner and nothing happened. No heat, no light, just dead. Landlord said he'd send someone Wednesday. I ate cold pizza for three nights. Finally fixed it myself on Thursday - turned out the gas line valve behind the stove was barely open. Whole thing took 30 seconds. Has anyone else found simple fixes that landlords missed?

Man that's the classic "handyman special" right there. My buddy had a similar thing with a water heater that "didn't work" for two weeks before someone noticed the pilot light was just turned off at the switch. Landlords will let you suffer over cold pizza before they bother to look under the stove. At least you figured it out before the guy showed up and charged you $150 to twist a valve.

Seems like an overreaction for a pilot light, man.
