First week in Chicago my parking brake gave out on a hill

Moved here last Tuesday and parked my old Honda on one of those steep streets near Wicker Park. Came back to find it had rolled a good 15 feet and was leaning against a parked minivan. Anyone else have their car try to relocate itself when they first moved to this city?

Yo that's rough but also kinda funny. Small thing though - you probably didn't use your parking brake wrong. On those super steep Chicago hills your wheels need to be turned into the curb. Point them toward the curb when facing downhill, away from it when facing uphill. That's what actually stops the roll if the brake fails. Parking brake is backup but those old cables snap. The turned wheels are your real save. Check your owner's manual, it'll show you how.

Honestly, my buddy tried that trick and his car still ended up two blocks down the street.
