Warning: That project management course my company paid for was a total waste

I took a 3-day PMP prep class last month in Chicago that cost my employer $1,200. The instructor spent half the time telling stories about his old job at a car plant that had nothing to do with managing projects. Has anyone else had better luck with a different certification or training provider?

Heard a buddy mention his company switched to the Scrum.org courses and had way better luck. Said the instructors actually stick to the material and don't go off on random tangents about their past jobs. Might be worth checking out since it's cheaper than PMP prep too from what I remember.

Did that guy tell you about the time he almost crashed a forklift too?

Man, I've seen that play out a few times. In my experience, those random stories usually mean the instructor is just filling time, not teaching you anything solid. If you're paying for a cert prep, you want someone who sticks to the material, not their past gigs.
