Stayed at my stable job for 5 years or chased a startup offer with equity? I picked the startup and it blew up in my face.

Five years in a stable job isn't nothing, you know? Seems like you jumped ship for a flashy promise of equity without really looking at the odds. Most startups fail, and that's just math. I've seen people leave solid gigs for a dream that was more about hype than a real plan. Maybe you learned a hard lesson, but calling it "blowing up" feels a bit dramatic when you can just find another stable job tomorrow.

Wait are we really acting like finding another stable job tomorrow is that easy for everyone? @perry.evan you're making it sound like jobs just grow on trees, but the market's been rough lately and not everyone bounces back that quick. I get you're trying to downplay the risk, but sometimes the lessons hit harder than just 'go get another gig'.

My buddy Tim once quit a decent factory gig to start flipping houses right when the market tanked. He spent two years living in his mom's basement trying to dig out of it. Sometimes the grass looks greener but it's just dyed turf.
