Stalled for ages on a certification and it set my career back
I kept telling myself I'd finish that online course next month. A year went by and I was still in the same job while friends moved up. When I finally got it, the hiring rush had passed. Don't let perfect timing be the enemy of getting things done. What's one thing you're putting off that you should just start now?

Honestly sometimes these delays work out for the better. That hiring rush you missed might have been a bad fit anyway. Careers are long, and one stalled certificate rarely wrecks everything forever. People switch paths or get promoted in weird ways all the time. Maybe the extra year gave you some other experience you don't even see as useful yet. The main thing is you finally did it, so just roll with that.

That line about it rarely wrecking everything forever is way too positive. A single delay can absolutely wreck your plans for a long time. It's not just about missing one job, it's about falling behind a whole hiring cycle. You lose momentum and watch other people move forward while you're stuck. It can take years to catch up from that kind of setback. Calling it a minor speed bump ignores how stressful and damaging it really is.

Hold up, you think one stalled certificate rarely wrecks everything? That's WILD to me. I've seen people miss entire job seasons because their paperwork was a month late. Like my friend who didn't get a single interview for a government role over a delayed safety cert. It can totally mess up your plans.
