My team lead told me to stop asking for feedback after 5pm
Last Thursday, I sent a quick Slack message at 6:30pm asking for thoughts on a project draft. My lead replied, 'Let's talk in the morning, I'm off the clock.' The next day, he said constant after-hours pings make him feel like he can't disconnect. I get that, but I also work weird hours and sometimes my best ideas hit late. Now I'm torn. Is it rude to send a non-urgent work question outside standard hours, or should leads expect some flexibility if they want a team that's always thinking? Has your workplace set clear rules on this?

Best ideas hit late" is what the "schedule send" button is for.

But what if the idea hits at 3am and you're too tired to even open the email app?

Wait, you still open the email app? I just mumble the idea into my phone's voice notes. It's all gibberish in the morning, but at least it's out of my head. One time I woke up to a recording that just said "purple waffle taxes" for a full minute. Made no sense, but I slept great.
