Just realized I sent out 213 job apps in 7 weeks and got exactly 2 callbacks
So I got laid off from my logistics coordinator job in Columbus back in April and decided I was gonna treat the job hunt like a full time job. I made this whole spreadsheet to track everything, which honestly became its own hobby. Every Sunday night I'd sit at my kitchen table and send out 15 to 20 apps before bed. Last Tuesday I finally scrolled to the bottom of the sheet and counted it up: 213 applications in 7 weeks. The callback number? Two. One was a recruiter who ghosted me after 10 minutes on the phone, and the other was a company that wanted me to drive 90 minutes each way for $17 an hour. What messed with my head was seeing that 11 of the places I applied to reposted the exact same job listing two weeks after I applied. Same wording and everything. My wife keeps telling me to just walk into places with a resume, but every single one of them says apply online. Has anyone actually gotten hired by showing up in person lately, or is that just boomer advice at this point?
