It took me five years to realize my resume was way too long

I had a recruiter tell me last month that she stopped reading after the first page because she had 200 other applicants. I used to think listing every single job duty made me look thorough, but it just made me look unfiltered. Has anyone else gotten feedback that made you totally rethink your approach?

What was the biggest thing you cut that actually made you nervous to remove?

Man I know exactly what you mean @kaid59! For me it was cutting the roof off a 1970 Chevelle I was trying to save. The whole thing was rusted through above the windshield and I had this replacement panel that was all wavy and didn't fit right. I remember standing there with the sawzall thinking if I cut too much or in the wrong spot the car would never look straight again. My buddy was yelling at me to just do it but I kept checking measurements like ten times before I even touched the blade to the metal. Once I started though there was no going back and it actually turned out okay after I spent three days hammering and welding that new piece in. The scary part is always that first cut because you can't un-do it you know?

yeah so a buddy of mine @kaid59, he was working on this old truck he'd been fixing up for years... finally decided to cut out the whole rusted floor pan on the driver's side. you know, the part under the pedals and everything. he said his hands were actually shaking a little when he went to make that first cut with the angle grinder, cause if he messed up the shape of the floor, the whole cab would never fit right again. took him like a week just to get the nerve to start.
