A manager told me to "fake it til you make it" on my resume 3 years ago and my career still hasn't recovered
When I got hired as a night shift charge nurse last month I found out the guy who said that had me list skills I'd never actually done in practice, and now I'm trying to learn wound care on the fly while a patient's family watches me fumble - has anyone else had to undo bad career advice from an old boss?

Damn, that's brutal. I feel for you, that's a terrible spot to be in.

Dixon, you might want to check if anyone in your state has a "cooling off" period law for used car purchases. Most people don't know about it, but some states give you 3 days to return a newly bought used car if it's a lemon. Also look into whether the dealership has a "buy here pay here" policy or a "as is" sticker on the car. A friend of mine got stuck in a similar mess and found out the dealer was required by state law to offer a warranty on any car over $5,000. Might be worth a quick online search before you accept the loss.

dixon.spencer, this is exactly what happened to my buddy Mike last year. He bought a used truck from a lot, engine blew two weeks later. He didn't know his state had a 3 day cooling off law for used cars under $20k. He checked the paperwork and there was no "as is" sticker anywhere, but the dealer tried to say it was sold that way. Mike found out the dealer was required by law to offer a 30 day warranty on any car over $4k. He ended up getting the dealer to buy it back after threatening to report them to the state DMV. So yeah, definitely check your local laws before you give up.
