Warning: That new fiber splice tray everyone loves actually made my loss jump 0.5 dB on a job last Tuesday in Phoenix.

I followed the instructions to the letter and still had to redo three splices before I tossed it and used the old style tray instead - has anyone else seen these things mess up your readings?

Dude that exact same thing happened to me last month in Tucson. I thought I was losing my mind chasing a phantom 0.4 dB loss until I swapped back to the old trays and it cleared right up. Really frustrating when the new gear is supposed to be an upgrade but just adds more headache.
