Update: Fiber terminations used to scare me off
Saw a stat saying 90% of signal loss comes from bad connections. Found it in a manufacturer's white paper. Now I take triple the time on every pigtail splice. You guys ever run a test after redoing a termination?

Triple time is still rookie numbers man. You gotta go full ritual mode now. Light a candle, say a little prayer to the fiber gods, maybe do a dance before you touch that cleaver. lmao. After rushing through a dozen terminations one day and getting 30% loss on half of them, I started treating each splice like I was defusing a bomb. Redid a bad one last week and my OTDR trace went from looking like a drunken zigzag to a flat line. Night and day difference. Now I swear it takes me longer to prep the fiber than to actually crimp the connector.

Last week I was making dinner and caught myself doing the same thing with chopping vegetables. My wife laughed at me for treating every slice like brain surgery. Funny how that skill carries over. Now I swear I check my fiber prep three times before I even pick up the cleaver.
