He came out with a drink for me, watched me crimp 6 fittings, and then asked why I wasn't using his 1987 crimper, and now I'm wondering if I should be hunting down old tools instead of buying new ones.

My buddy borrowed his uncle's old tubing bender from the 80s and it still works better than the new one he bought last year. Sometimes the old stuff was just built to last.
