The day I stopped using a hammer on coax fittings after 8 years
I used to tap coax connectors in with my Klein hammer until a senior guy at a job in Dayton last fall showed me how a simple compression tool saves busted ends and your knuckles. Has anyone else wasted YEARS doing something the hard way before a coworker set them straight?

Compression tools have been standard for years, not just a new trick.

Yeah but are people really using them right though? I see so many devs just hit the default gzip setting and call it a day when there's way more you can do with Brotli these days. You can get like 20-30% better compression on text files if you tweak the quality settings, especially on HTML and CSS. Then there's image compression too, AVIF and WebP beat the pants off old JPEGs for most use cases. And don't even get me started on people who still serve uncompressed SVGs, that's just leaving free performance on the table.
