Overheard a dispatcher say my cable maps were sloppy, spent the weekend fixing them

Some lady from the office was complaining about my last 3 sketches in the truck bay, and honestly she had a point. Re-drew 14 of them with exact pole numbers and driveway markers, made my Wednesday jobs way faster. Anyone else keep messy maps or am I the only one who gets caught?}

Start treating those maps like your own address book. Once I started marking every stupid driveway that turns into a mud pit after rain, and noting which poles have the weird guy wires that grab your ladder, my morning route got 20 minutes shorter. Sloppy maps just mean you're redoing the thinking on site, which is way worse than fixing them on a Sunday. Now I keep a spare copy in the truck and mark it up with a sharpie as I go, so the next time someone complains, I can hand them a map that's actually got my day's notes on it. Half the job is proving you know the ground better than the office does.
