Old timer taught me something on a job in Portland 8 years ago
He saw me struggling with a coax termination in a crawlspace and just said "stop fighting the cable, let it bend where it wants to go." That one line changed how I approach tight spots. Anyone else have a random bit of advice from a stranger that stuck with you?

That thing about "keep it simple" only working if you know what you're doing is spot on. I've seen so many people just strip a design down to nothing and call it clean, but it just ends up looking empty instead of simple. The difference is knowing what actually matters and leaving that.

Keep it simple. Don't force it.

and like, the thing nobody talks about with "keep it simple" is that it only works if you actually know what you're doing. @tara_jones94 is right but people forget that simplicity comes from mastery, not laziness. you can't just strip things down if you don't understand what you're stripping away in the first place. that's how you end up with a boring logo that says nothing instead of a clean one that says everything.
