My van told me I drove 500 miles in a week for installs - that was a shocker

I checked my mileage after a rough week last month. 5 days of back to back installs in the burbs outside Houston. I knew I was covering ground but 500 miles exactly? That's nuts. Mostly just running coax and setting up modems in identical housing developments. Anyone else ever track their weekly mileage and get surprised?

500 miles exactly" sounds about right for those Houston burbs. I found that grouping jobs by area instead of taking whatever dispatch gives me really cut down my windshield time.

You ever have a buddy tell you a story and you just nod along until the numbers hit? My friend Mike was telling me about his week doing cable installs in Katy, and he said he hit 480 miles in four days. @kim819 is right about grouping jobs because Mike said he wasted half a day bouncing between opposite ends of town just because dispatch didn't care. He was shocked too when he actually looked at his odometer.
