Just snapped my trim tool on a stubborn coax plate in Tulsa

Honestly, I was down in a crawlspace yesterday and that old coax plate just would not budge. Put too much torque on my trim tool and it cracked right in half. Had to finish the job using a flathead screwdriver and a lot of swearing. Anyone else had a tool break at the worst possible moment?

Three coats of paint? Man that is practically a crime scene. I had a coax plate in a house built in the 60s and I swear the previous owner painted it like 15 times. The plate was basically a solid chunk of paint with a wire coming out of it. I ended up using a heat gun and a putty knife and it still took forever. Broke my favorite 5-in-1 tool on that one. Its always the spot where you can barely reach too.

Man, that's rough. A trim tool snapping in a crawlspace is just adding insult to injury when you're already in a tight spot. I've found that sometimes those old coax plates are practically welded on from years of paint and corrosion, and a little heat from a hairdryer or a quick shot of penetrating oil can save your tools from a similar fate.
