Dropped $180 on a fiber cleaver after my old one wrecked 3 splices in one day
Was finishing a 12 unit MDU job in Dayton last month and my cheap cleaver started giving me ragged ends, so I lost maybe 6 splices before I figured out it was the tool and not me. Went to the supply house and grabbed a decent one for $180, which stung, but it cut my scrap rate to almost nothing and I finished the building in 2 days instead of 3. Cheap one worked fine for years until it didn't, so now I keep the old one as backup in the truck. What are you all running, and do you send cleavers in for service or just replace them when they start slipping?
