Was at a race in Eugene and saw a mechanic use zip ties to fix a broken derailleur hanger...
I always thought you needed a spare hanger or it was a total loss, but he got the rider back on course in under a minute. What's the most creative field fix you've ever had to pull off?

Honestly, who even thinks a zip tie could hold a derailleur? I always carried a spare hanger thinking it was the only way. Seeing a fix like that makes you question everything you thought was a hard rule. It just proves that getting creative with what you have on hand can save the day. I guess the real tool is knowing what a part can do, not just what it's meant for.

Tried the zip tie trick once after a rock strike. It got me through fifteen miles of singletrack to the trailhead. Sometimes the best fix is just stopping the thing from rattling around completely.
