Warning: That new carbon paste from BikeGoo is a total mess
Had a customer bring in a high end road bike last week, a carbon seatpost was slipping. Figured I'd try this new carbon assembly paste everyone's talking about. Big mistake. The stuff is way too thick, like wet sand. Got it all over the frame, took me 20 minutes with isopropyl to clean it up. Even after I got the post in, the torque reading was all over the place because the paste was so clumpy. Ended up wiping it off and going back to my old reliable Finish Line stuff. The job took twice as long. Has anyone found a good carbon paste that actually applies clean?

Tried it on a carbon stem last month and had the exact same problem. The grit is way too coarse and it just balls up under the bolt. Made a huge mess on the steerer tube. I'm sticking with Park Tool's paste now, it's much smoother and way easier to clean up.

Nothing like carbon fiber confetti to ruin your afternoon, right?

Wait hold up, 20 minutes with isopropyl? Man that's rough. I dealt with the same stuff on a customer's Look 795 and the paste was actually clumping in the post bore, some of it was so thick I had to scrape it out with a plastic pick. The clumps were like tiny mud balls, it was ridiculous. How do they mess up a simple paste that bad?
