TIL a simple thank you from a first-time bike owner can make your whole week

Last Tuesday a guy came in with a beat-up hybrid he bought off Craigslist. I spent about 20 minutes showing him how to lube the chain, adjust his seat height, and check tire pressure. He looked at me after and said "nobody ever took the time to explain this stuff before." It was just a basic tune-up chat but that moment reminded me why I got into this trade. Has anyone else had a customer interaction that really stuck with them?

Did you charge him for that 20 minute lesson or was it the "warm fuzzies" special? Because honestly that's better than any tip I've ever gotten.

Warm fuzzies special" - that's getting added to my invoice template. @patricia_schmidt14 thinks that's too much but hey, 20 minutes of my Saturday is worth at least a coffee. Next time I'll ask for cash instead of good karma.

@kim819 Wait, you think charging someone for 20 minutes of help is normal? That's wild.
