That trick for bleeding disc brakes with a syringe changed my whole workflow

Old school mechanic Mike told me to stop using the gravity bleed method on Shimano brakes. Said it leaves air trapped near the caliper. Started using a syringe to push fluid from the caliper up to the lever. First time I tried it on a customer's bike last Tuesday, the lever felt solid in 5 minutes. No more pumping the lever a hundred times. Been doing it for every disc brake job since. Anyone else use this method or got a better way to get a perfect bleed every time?

Man, my buddy tried gravity bleeding his brakes last summer and it took him like four hours and he still ended up with a spongy pedal. He finally gave up and did the two person method with a buddy and it was done in twenty minutes. @margaret_gonzalez25 you're totally right, this newer way just saves so much headache. I think a lot of folks just stick with what they know even when it's not the best option. Sometimes the old way is just more trouble than it's worth.
