Shoutout to the old guy at the Indy bike co-op who caught my wheel build
Was truing a rear wheel at the co-op on Michigan St last Saturday and an older volunteer named Ray walked by and said "you're chasing the tension, not the wobble." He had me squeeze each spoke pair and feel for the soft ones before I ever touched the nipple wrench. Got the wheel within 1mm of true in 20 minutes instead of the 90 I usually burn. Anyone else got a mentor who drops one line that fixes your whole approach?
