Pressed bearings without a press for years, finally got the proper tool
Spent 6 years installing headset and BB bearings with a hammer and socket. Worked fine until I ruined a $45 Phil Wood bearing last Tuesday by hammering it in crooked. Picked up a $60 bearing press kit from my local co-op in Seattle and it took me 10 minutes to do what used to take an hour of fussing. The difference is night and day, bearings seat dead straight every time. Anyone else hold out on buying the right tool and pay for it later?
