Learned my lesson about cheap cable housing at a shop in Austin

Guy came in with his brand new custom build, housing was already fraying after two weeks. Has anyone else had that cheap stuff fail way faster than you expected?

Used to roll my eyes at people spending more on housing but after seeing a build literally start falling apart in days I get it now. That cheap stuff probably saves you twenty bucks but costs way more in time and frustration when you have to redo everything. Nothing quite like watching someone's brand new bike look like it's been through a war zone before it even gets broken in.

Used to roll my eyes too. Thought people were just showing off or being picky. Then I helped a buddy throw together a cheap build last summer and we had to tear half of it apart three weeks later because the frame started flexing weird and the welds looked suspect. Saved maybe thirty bucks but wasted a whole weekend. Now I get why folks will drop extra on something solid. Beats standing there watching your work crumble and knowing you're gonna have to do it again.

Wait, did you guys end up replacing the whole frame or just reinforce the welds? I'm curious how bad the flexing actually got before you caught it. Like, was it wobbling just riding down a smooth street or only on bumps?
