Guess they're going for the "you'll never find what you need" aesthetic. Maybe the grumpy service is part of the charm?

Well @henderson.wesley, it's just a store at the end of the day. Maybe some people put too much weight on whether the staff smiles or not.

Oh man, I have the opposite take. The old shops I've been in feel cluttered and kind of unwelcoming. The staff often acts like you're bothering them if you ask a basic question. I'd take a clean, well-lit shop with friendly employees any day. That old-school vibe is mostly just a dusty mess.
