Hot take: my $600 repair week was all because of one 5 cent part
Had a customer bring in a Trek Marlin with a creak that three other shops in Denver could not find, and it turned out the cassette lockring was loose by maybe a quarter turn. Then two more bikes came in that same Saturday with the same issue, and I started wondering if I should just check every lockring before anything else or if that would waste time on the ones that are actually fine. Do you guys torque lockrings as a habit on every tune up, or only when the rider complains about noise?
