Check those shifter cable ferrules before they bite you
Last Tuesday I had a customer's bike on the stand in my shop in Dayton and the rear derailleur kept skipping even after a fresh cable, turns out the ferrule at the downtube had cracked and was letting the cable flex under load. I swapped it with a cheap steel one and now I'm checking every ferrule on every tune-up, how often do you guys replace them as standard practice?
