A customer pointed out I was tightening cassette lockrings too loose

Last week at the shop, a guy came in complaining about a creak in his drivetrain. I figured it was a worn chain or cassette, but after swapping parts the noise was still there. He watched me torque the lockring and said 'you sure that's tight enough?' I brushed him off at first, but he insisted I check the spec. Turns out I was under-torquing by about 10 Nm for years, just using feel instead of a torque wrench. Now I check every lockring with the tool, and that creak is gone. Has anyone else had a customer catch a bad habit like that?

Torquing to spec made a huge difference for me too after a similar wake-up call.

I mean, tbh I've been going by feel for 15 years and never had a single issue with lockrings slipping.
