Wasted 2 years swiping credit cards the wrong way at my POS terminal

Old timer from Chase merchant services showed me you're supposed to swipe fast and straight, not slow and angled, and my decline rate dropped from 15% to almost nothing the next day - anyone else get trained wrong on basic card processing?

Wasted 2 years swiping credit cards the wrong way" - I mean, is it really that big of a deal though? You went from 15% declines to nothing just by changing your swipe angle? Sounds like maybe your old terminal was just junk or needed a cleaning. I've swiped cards every which way for years and never seen that kind of swing in declines.

Dirty card readers cause most of that, not your swiping angle.

Yeah but maybe that old terminal was just worn out and the angle thing was just coincidence.
