Vent: That contactless limit increase actually made my wallet thinner
I used to just tap my card for anything under $50 and go. Now that they bumped it to $100 in Canada back in 2022, I've noticed my spending on coffee runs and random snacks jumped by about 30% because I never think about the amount anymore. Has anyone else found themselves just tapping through way more small purchases without noticing?

OH my god YES. I swear I'm spending like $20 extra a week on iced coffees and gas station junk because I just tap without even LOOKING at the total anymore.

Does it ever freak you out how you can drop fifty bucks without even realizing it because the machine just beeps and you're done? I had to start taking cash out on purpose for gas station runs so I could actually see the money leaving my hand. It's wild how they designed these things to basically trick your brain into not caring about the total until you check your bank account later. I swear I'd buy a bag of chips and a soda without even glancing at the price now, just tap and go. Then I get the alert on my phone three hours later and I'm like, wait, did I really spend nine dollars on two things at a 7-Eleven?
