TIL my bank's mobile check deposit has a $500 daily limit

Went to deposit a $1,200 check from a side job last Tuesday, scanned it through the app like always, and got a message saying I hit my daily cap. Had to drive 20 minutes to the nearest branch before they closed at 5pm. Never even knew that limit existed because I usually only deposit small stuff. Has anyone else run into surprise limits on their bank's app?

Read somewhere that most banks hide these limits in the fine print of their deposit agreement, buried under like seven pages of legal mumbo jumbo. Found out the hard way with my own bank when I tried to mobile deposit an insurance check for car repairs (that was a fun surprise). It's worth checking your bank's fee schedule or deposit terms online before you need them, saves you that last minute panic run.

Flip it around and think about how these limits actually mess with small business owners who live on mobile deposits. My buddy runs a painting crew and half his payments come as checks from homeowners that always seem to push right up against his daily cap. Then he's stuck splitting deposits across multiple days or driving 20 minutes to the bank branch just to keep payroll moving.

Used to figure banks had those limits figured out so normal deposits wouldn't be an issue, but getting stuck mid-deposit really changed how I see their apps now. Definitely worth digging through the fine print before you need to move any bigger money around.
