I moved $500 from my checking at Chase to my savings at Ally last Tuesday and got hit with a $34 wire fee I did not know about. Turns out regular ACH transfers between banks can take 3 to 5 business days while wires go same day but cost money, and nobody told me which one I picked when I hit send. I called support and the rep said I should have used Zelle or linked the accounts instead, which would have been free. Is there a way to set up free same day transfers between two banks without paying these fees every time?
