PSA: That $12 monthly 'premium' checking account at my bank in Boise cost me $144 before I caught it
I signed up for the upgraded account two years ago because the teller said it would waive ATM fees and give me a slightly better rate, but I never ran the math on the monthly fee against what I actually got back. Turns out I was paying $12 a month to save maybe $3 in fees, so I was out around $216 total and nobody at the branch ever mentioned it when I came in. Has anyone actually done the math on their premium checking and found it was worth keeping, or is this just a thing we all quietly pay for?
