I don't get the hype around instant payments like Zelle

Last week, my friend sent me $100 for concert tickets through Zelle and it went to the wrong person. The bank said they couldn't get it back because it was 'authorized'. Three years ago, I had a check bounce and the bank helped me fix it with a fee waiver. Now everyone acts like moving money in seconds is always better, but I'd rather have the safety net of a slower system that can catch mistakes. Has anyone else had a payment go wrong with these fast apps and been left with no help?

Wait, they just said "authorized" and that's it? That's insane. Your money is just gone?

Remember when my buddy got a text that looked just like his bank's fraud alert. He panicked, clicked the link, and typed in his login. They cleaned out his checking account in minutes. The bank's official line was that he "authorized" the login, so it was a done deal. Took him six months of daily calls and a threat to go to the local news before they finally gave him a partial refund.

Exactly, @the_joel. Banks hide behind that word to avoid helping you. They treat it like you gave permission, even if it was a scam. The whole system is set up to protect them, not your cash. Getting your money back is a fight they hope you'll give up on.
