Why does nobody talk about how long it takes to find that one specific anime opening song?

I spent three whole evenings scrolling through YouTube and forum posts trying to track down the opening for a mid-2000s mecha show I barely remembered. Turns out the show was "Soukou no Strain" and the opening "Hikari no Synchronizer" was only on some obscure music site from 2006. Has anyone else wasted hours hunting down a song that just vanished from streaming?

Hold up, three evenings?! Man, I've been there too but three evenings is brutal. I spent a whole night once trying to find the opening to this old OVA called "Fire Tripper" from the 80s. Thought I made it up because nobody had it anywhere. Finally found it buried in a playlist on some random Russian site that looked like it was from 1998. It's crazy how these songs just disappear, like they never existed. Makes me wonder how many other good openings are just lost to time.

Read an article once that said something like 90% of music from before 2000 is basically lost because nobody saved it digitally. Makes me wonder what else is gone that we don't even remember existed.
