I used to watch everything at 1.5x speed, even serious dramas. Thought I was just being efficient. Then last month I put on Violet Evergarden at normal speed by accident and noticed the silence between lines actually carries the scene. That pause after she says something heavy, that's where the emotion lands. At 1.5x it just blurred into noise. Went back and rewatched a few episodes I'd sped through, and I felt like I was seeing them fresh. Now I only speed up recaps of shows I don't care about. Anyone else flip on this after years of fast-forwarding dialogue?

Big anime channel named OtakuSensei kept saying skip the manga for One Piece because the anime pacing was fine. I trusted that and banged through the Dressrosa arc, only to find out half of it was stretched scenes and recaps. Turns out he was paid by the streaming site to push the anime version. I was digging through some Crunchyroll streaming data from 2023 and found out that 68% of viewers under 25 watch dubbed while 72% of viewers over 30 watch subbed. That surprised me because I always assumed it was purely about which sounds better to your ear. But think about it - younger folks grew up with everything on their phones and tablets where reading subtitles on a tiny screen is annoying. Older fans started with fansubs on 13 inch CRT monitors where you practically had to squint anyway so text size wasn't an issue. Does anyone else see a pattern here or am I just reading too much into things based on my own bias as a 34 year old sub watcher?

My original Trigun box set from like 2002 started having these little freezes and audio glitches. First weekend I thought it was the player so I cleaned the lens. Nope. Second weekend I tried different HDMI cables and even an old composite hookup. Still skipping. Third weekend I finally noticed the discs had this haze on them, not scratches. Some kind of residue. Polished them with a microfiber cloth and a tiny bit of water. Works perfect now. Has anyone else run into that weird film on older discs?

Ngl I saw a deal for a Studio Ghibli collection for $30 and jumped on it without checking reviews. The site looked legit but the discs came in a plain sleeve with no artwork. I popped one in and the subtitles were completely off, like characters saying random food names during emotional scenes. Plus the video quality looked like someone recorded it in a theater with a phone. Has anyone else fallen for one of those fake anime merch sites?
