Unpopular opinion: The 'best girl' debates in anime are the most pointless thing we do

I was at a con in Austin, trying to actually talk about the themes in 'Monster', when three guys next to me got into a screaming match over Rem vs Ram. It completely killed the vibe for a serious discussion. I just packed up my stuff and moved to a quieter corner of the food court. Honestly, why do we let these silly shipping wars dominate every single forum? What's the last anime you watched where the plot mattered more than the waifu polls?

Our local library's book club had a 50 person waitlist last I checked. That small panel idea from @nancy_smith sounds nice but good luck finding one that's actually taking new people. It feels like everyone had the same thought at once.
