Tried to rewatch my favorite anime from 2005 and the dub was completely different than I remembered

I was on Crunchyroll last night with my buddy, trying to show him what I grew up on. Picked an episode of an old show I used to watch on Toonami. The voices were all wrong, they changed the script, even the music was swapped out. I spent 20 minutes checking if I had the right version. Found out they redid the dub in 2012 without telling anyone. Has anyone else run into this with older shows?

You ever watch the Yu Yu Hakusho dub on Netflix? It's a completely different cast from the Toonami days. My cousin and I argued for like an hour over it.

Man that exact thing happened to me with the Netflix dub. I grew up on the Toonami version and when I tried the new one it just felt OFF, like Yusuke's voice had way too much attitude. What worked for me was watching a side by side clip on YouTube of the same scene from both dubs. My buddy and I compared the Hunter exam arc from both versions and it settled the debate real quick because you can actually hear the differences.
