Shoutout to that random Reddit comment that made me realize I was skipping anime intros for no reason

I was 200 episodes into One Piece thinking the intros were just filler until someone pointed out the lyrics literally foreshadow the arc's big twist lol has anyone else missed something obvious like that because they were skipping stuff on auto-pilot?

Wait have you ever actually READ some of those lyrics though? I saw this breakdown online by a music nerd who analyzed how the Hunter x Hunter intro "Departure" changes the lyrics slightly between arcs to hint at what's coming up and it BROKE my brain. The guy pointed out that the line about "the road you choose" in the Chimera Ant arc intro gets this dark alternate version that literally describes the King's whole deal and I had NO idea until he laid it all out. I used to skip every intro on auto-pilot for years, it's such a habit now that I don't even think about it. But after reading that article I actually started paying attention and realized the JoJo intros do this constantly with their lyrics and even the animation changing between episodes. It's not just about spoilers either, sometimes the intros set the MOOD for the whole episode and skipping them messes with your headspace.

Man, I dunno... I mean, I get it, but skipping intros isn't that deep. I still skip them half the time because I just wanna get to the actual show, not sit through a music video with a bunch of spoilers I can't even catch yet. Like, yeah, the lyrics might hint at something, but is it really a big deal if you miss that? Most of the time it's just vague enough that you wouldn't connect it anyway until you're already past the twist.
