Question about the 'sub vs. dub' debate for a first-time viewer
My friend was starting 'Attack on Titan' and I told him to go with the sub (the Japanese voice acting just hits different, you know?). He came back after three episodes totally hooked, so I guess the choice worked out.

My buddy tried the dub for a different show and said it felt flat, switched to sub and never looked back.

I watched the first three episodes of Spy x Family dubbed and the voices just felt wrong. Loid sounded bored and Anya's energy was totally missing. Switched to the sub and the original actors brought so much more life to the characters. Now I just default to subs for everything, the emotion always hits harder.

Wait, your friend got hooked after just three episodes? That's crazy fast for Attack on Titan. The sub really does pull you in right away, the intensity is just unmatched. I tried showing someone the dub first and they thought it was just another action show. The original voices carry so much raw feeling that gets lost. It makes a huge difference for setting the tone early on.
