My brother in Chicago said something about 'Attack on Titan' that stuck with me
We were talking about the ending and he said, 'I think people are mad because they wanted a clean hero, not a broken one.' I always just went along with the crowd saying it was bad... but his point about Eren's choice being the whole point made me stop and think. Has anyone else had a friend change their mind on a big anime take?

That's a solid point from your brother, and I see what emery19 means about it hitting hard. Does he think the backlash was more about the story not giving people an easy way out, rather than the writing itself being bad?

The writing was just plain weak in that third act, though. Remember how the dialogue got all clunky and the plot holes showed up? People weren't mad about a tough story, they were mad it was told badly.
