I just hit 500 episodes of One Piece last night and it felt like finishing a marathon
I started watching during a slow week in March and suddenly realized I'd passed 500 episodes without any fanfare or celebration. Has anyone else reached a big milestone in a series and just felt kind of empty instead of proud?

That road trip comparison really nails it. You spend so much time pushing ahead to the next arc that you forget to sit back and enjoy the weird little moments that make the show special.

Feeling kind of empty" is exactly right, but 500 episodes is still a huge deal for a show that long. I think the emptiness comes from realizing you've blown through such a huge chunk of story without stopping to appreciate the journey itself. It's like looking back at a road trip and only remembering the highway, not the little towns you passed through.

Disagree completely. 500 episodes of anything is way too much time invested in something that just leaves you empty at the end. Binge watching that much is just numbing yourself, not appreciating anything. Remembering the "little towns" is overrated when the highway itself is boring. Maybe the emptiness is a sign you should have quit watching around episode 200.
