Found a weird trick to skip filler episodes in long shonen without missing canon

I was stuck 80 episodes deep in one of those 900-episode shows and someone on a forum said to just look up the manga chapter numbers for each arc and skip anything that doesn't match. Has anyone else tried this method or got a better way to cut through the padding?

i saw someone say they use a fan wiki list to check which episodes actually move the plot forward.

Oh totally @kaiharris, that's a solid move honestly. I've used one before for Star Trek TNG and skipped like 30 episodes that were just "the holodeck breaks again" or "Troi's mom visits." Way better than sitting through a whole season of filler to get to one Borg episode.

Or you could just watch the show like a normal person and decide for yourself what's worth your time.
